Job Summary and Purpose :
Provide technical and technological problem-solving abilities for the production process and planning. Need to lead work teams and control the production process to ensure work is executed to high quality and auditable standards consistent with contract work scope, statutory and code requirements, Integrated Management System (IMS) procedures, design parameters, welding procedure specifications and vendor data and will be responsible for all structural fabrication and marine steel works aspects of projects.
Accountabilities Key Accountabilities:
1. Fabrication Activities: Oversee all fabrication and steel work activities in ship repair projects.
2. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to and enforce safety, quality, and environmental management policies and procedures.
3. Project Analysis: Study project specifications, drawings, and requirements.
4. Activity Planning: Plan all project-related activities.
5. Resource Calculation: Calculate and plan consumables, materials, resources, supports and procedures required for projects.
6. Manpower Planning: Plan manpower requirements based on tariffs and calculations.
7. Technical Feedback: Provide technical feedback to the project team on contract requirements.
8. Welding Coordination: Coordinate with QSA for welding processes and welder qualifications.
9. Methodology Development: Develop construction/fabrication methodologies.
10. Risk Assessment: Prepare risk assessments based on job details.
11. Safety and Quality: Ensure safety and quality aspects are maintained in projects.
12. Meetings Attendance: Attend all relevant project meetings.
13. Manpower Monitoring: Monitor daily manpower allocation closely.
14. Subcontractor Monitoring: Monitor subcontractor activities to ensure progress with safety and quality.
15. Coordination with PMT: Coordinate with PMT and planning teams to monitor project progress and productivity.
16. Inspection Coordination: Coordinate with third-party inspections and issue work orders for i nspectio ns/testi ng.
17. Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise in developing procedures, techniques, checklists, sequences, or other requirements.
18. Standards Compliance: Ensure process compliance with national and international standards, class rules, and legislations.
19. Equipment Monitoring: Monitor equipment validation and calibration.
20. Reporting: Prepare and submit daily work activity and progress reports.
21. Man-Hour Monitoring: Monitor man-hour consumption and coordinate with Commercial to achieve KPI targets.
22. Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership to subordinates to ensure efficient and compliant work.
23. New Enquiries: Study new enquiries and provide feedback on manpower, duration, and other project execution requirements.
24. Cost Consciousness: Identify opportunities for system improvements, cost reduction, and productivity enhancement.
25. Zone Walkthroughs: Conduct walkthroughs of assigned zones and create reports.
26. KPI Achievement: Ensure individual KPis set by section management are achieved.
27. Innovation and R&D: Encourage innovation and lead research and development initiatives to improve production techniques and outcomes

29. Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as directed to support the department’s continuous operations.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills Qualifications:
Degree in Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering/Mechanical Engineering or related with relevant experience and knowledge. Any other qualifications with exceptionally good experience and knowledge in ship repair as steel works project leads .
Experience:
• Minimum 4 years of experience as steel works project lead in Ship repair, offshore fabrication projects etc.
• Candidates with other qualifications, at least 5 years of working experience in ship repair as steel works project leads, and in-depth knowledge about steel works jobs.
Technical Competencies:
1. Knowledge and experience in steel works jobs of ship repair and ship building.
2. Good technical knowledge of Steel works jobs in ship repair and ship building/offshore fabrication jobs including, but not limited to steel fabrication, Steel renewals, Outfittings jobs, welding , bending jobs and CNC cutting jobs.
3. Good technical knowledge of welding porcesses, consumables, sequences etc.
4. Good command on MS Office suit. Knowledge about Project management softwares and Autocad will be added advantages.
5. Strong background with resolution of technical issues during projects planning and execution phases
6. Ability to read and follow job specifications and drawings.
7. Good Knowledge about safety and quality standards
8. Project management skills.
