Job Description:
The role of the water balance and leak detection inspector is to carry out water balance and leak detection in the district metered areas (DMAs) on the instruction of the engineer through the supervisor and assist in attending to complaints of leaks as and when required by the engineer and supervisor. His main duties are to take readings of the meters in the selected DMAs and prepare the meter readings on an excel sheet for water balance purpose and install/retrieve noise-loggers for the leak detection campaign followed by pinpointing of leaks.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist the supervisor and support him in carrying out all his duties pertaining to water
balance and leak detection in the selected DMA.

Prepare customers’ listings on excel sheet and take initial and final meter readings
of the meters in each DMA and prepare water balance report.

Prepare proper layout drawings for the effective deployment of noise-loggers in each

DMA and checking for leaks in every connections Program, install, deploy and retrieve, download, display and interpret noise logger results.

Properly plan the route for meter reading and noise logger deployment campaign to
reach the destination and complete the task within the shortest possible time.

Identify possible leaks from noise logger campaign and prepare to find leaks using
all available equipment by correlation and pinpointing

Submit report and finding of leaks for excavation and repair.

Physically carry and transport the leak detection equipment for site use and
deployment, ensure their security and clean and maintain them in serviceable
conditions after completing field work.

Performs any other duties relating to water balance and leak detection work as
instructed by the supervisor.

Consistently follow the schedule and program for carrying out water balance in

DMAs, leak detection campaign in DMAs and attending to complaints of leaks in
order to achieve the target set by the engineer.

The minimum target is to satisfactorily complete the water balance and leak detection
campaign in all DMAs in the entire network at least once within 3 years from
commencement data.

Ensure that all activities of water balance, leak detection, and attending to complaints
are carried out in accordance to the procedures and flow chart as set out by the
engineer and to complete them satisfactorily within the required period.

Raise and follow up work orders raised through JD Edwards ERP system.

Prepare a water balance for each DMA on an excel sheet and submit report.
Qualification Requirements:
Technical Diploma in an engineering discipline (only some we need with
management certificates diploma or bachelor’s degree for analysis and data entry)
Job Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in an engineering environment.
Work Environment
90% Site Supervision, 10% Office work.
Other Significant Requirements:

Ability to work on site independently and be physically fit to work in hot and cold
weather for extended hours

Quick in learning new technical skills while on the job training for leak detection and
meter reading and submit results on excel sheet and PowerPoint.

Shall be in the age group of 21-40 years and shall be available on call after duty
Hours

Must possess State of Qatar Driving License
